Checking out if NH resorts are less expensive than Killington over Spring Break.
Killington is 8 hr 6 min, 458 mi from my house.
Killington's earliest closing date for the year was April 22. They stayed open until June several years.
Waterville Vally, NH is 9 hr 3 min, 533 mi.
Killington rental house:
$1250 http://www.vrbo.com/639788, ski in ski out, sleeps 8, 3 bedrooms, assume 2 families, $625/family. For 4 skiers would be a total of $1135 for condo plus lift tickets. I'd love to add at least two half days of lessons for the kids for $302, so we're up to $1437. Tolls ($40), road food ($80), and gas $120. $1680. Assume that the ski-in-ski-out eliminates the need for buying beer and food and hot chocolate at the lodge, ie saves a lot of money. If we shift the check-in date to Friday (pull the kids out of school at noon on Friday and drive up, arriving around bedtime, it adds $300. So if we arrive Fri and ski sat-sun-mon, it costs each family $150 more. If we add a day and do sat-sun-mon-tues, we add $250/family for condo, plus another day's lift tickets.
$2548.60 http://www.vrbo.com/76323 , assume 3 families, $850/family.

half-day lessons for kids 7-17: 1 day $82, 2 day $151, 3 day $220
rates are for lessons only, lift tickets extra
2brm slope side condo, sleeps 4, $1136 for 4 days, with 20% discount would be $909 per family (each family has it's own condo).
